Okay.. Before we begin, let me tell you this:
Japanese is made up of three alphabets:
1) Hiragana
2) Katakana
3) Kanji
They are each used for completely different purposes, and yes, they do need a little studying and memorising (kanji especially). Because this is just a 'Japanese for Dummies', I will put everything in romaji, meaning in the English alphabet, so that everyone else can understand and be able to pronounce it!
Pronunciations:
I'm sure everyone can pronounce the Japanese alphabet, except for this one tricky sound: 'tsu'
For example:
Mitsubishi is NOT pronounced asMit-su-bi-shi!
It is pronounced as Mi-tsu-bi-shi
Tonikaku, hajimemashou! (Anyway, let's get started!)
-------------------
MINI-QUIZ!
Konnichiwa, minna-san! Hajimemashite! Watashi no namae wa Josephine desu. Ima Malaysia ni sundeimasu. Douzo yoroshiku onegaishimasu~~!
-------------------
What on earth does that mean? Can someone translate this for me? Those who do get a very, very special prize!
-------------------
